Poultry in Motion Classroom Presentations

We're excited to bring the our knowledge and first hand experience of the chicken industry directly to your school. Our engaging presentations cater to students in grades 3-12, with the flexibility to adapt for younger audiences. Classroom presentations are offered as a standalone session or integrated into a Foods Class.

  When integrated into a foods class, we provide recipe books and the chicken needed for each student to create a delicious dish while learning about the poulty industry in BC.

Lesson 1: From Farm to Fork

Lesson 1 provides a comprehensive look at British Columbia's chicken farming industry. Students will trace the chicken's journey, from fertilized egg through hatchery and broiler farm to the processing plant. We'll also explore the different types of poultry farms in the region, including broiler breeders, broilers, organic, specialty, and egg-laying operations, and conclude with an overview of the industry's role in ensuring local food security and stability

Lesson 2: Animal Welfare on Poultry Farms

 This lesson begins with a general overview of the Poultry Industry in BC and then delves into the concept of animal welfare, with a specific focus on poultry farming practices in British Columbia. Students will explore the importance of ethical treatment of animals, the measures implemented to ensure animal welfare, and the role of audits in maintaining high standards.

Lesson 3: Risks and Threats Facing BC Poultry Farms

 This lesson begins with a general overview of the Poultry Industry in BC and then delves into the concept of animal welfare, with a specific focus on poultry farming practices in British Columbia. Lesson 4: Role of Supply Management

This lesson  delves into the intricacies of Supply Management in Canada, exploring its historical context, purpose, and impact on the agricultural industry. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of how this system works, its benefits, and its potential drawbacks.

Classroom Presentations with Foods Classes

When booking a Poultry in Motion Lesson with a Foods Class presentation,  Poultry in Motion will provide each student with a copy of the Student Poultry Cookbook and supply the chicken needed to prepare either the Crispy Chicken Sliders or the Sheet Pan Fajitas recipe. 

 

Teachers will be responsible for providing all the other ingredients required for the recipe of their choice.
