食品课程的课堂演示
我们很高兴能将我们在鸡肉行业的知识和第一手经验直接带到您的学校。我们引人入胜的演示适合3至12年级的学生，并可灵活调整以适应更小的受众。课堂演示可以作为独立课程提供，也可以融入食品课程。
当融入食品课程时，我们为每位学生提供食谱书和所需的鸡肉，以便他们制作美味佳肴，同时了解不列颠哥伦比亚省的家禽产业。
Key Objectives:

Cooking with Context is an advanced presentation, designed to deepen students' understanding of their role as a consumer in society. Farmer Amanda will introduce your class to the following:

Being a conscious consumer and shopper: learn about the labels you see in the grocery store, Canadian food standards, and how to recognize targeted and misleading marketing.

Poultry industry food chain: learn about the people and jobs that are responsible for the food we eat; the relationship between farms, processors, and retailers, and the government.

Supply Management: learn how the government works with farmers to maintain stability in the market; ensuring farmers are paid fairly and the price of chicken stays affordable.

Canadian farming standards and practices: learn about animal welfare in Canada, why raising healthy chicken is so important to farmers, and what farms do to protect their bird.

What to expect:

Farmer Amanda will visit one class at a time, delivering a presentation adjusted to the grade and length of each class. The presentation will close with an interactive activity, requiring students to work in groups using a phone or laptop.

She will need access to a projector and wall outlet, and if available, a clicker.
-
Students will need access to a laptop or phone to access an online flyer for the activity.

In addition to the presentation, Farmer Amanda will provide cookbooks and chicken for you to cook with your class, using one of the recipes below. A cooking demonstration is NOT included in the presentation.

Teachers will need to choose from one of the two recipes listed below.

Refrigerated chicken will need to be received and stored upon arrival.

If you would like the chicken to arrive frozen, you will need to make a specific request.

All Poultry in Motion presentations are booked by the school, meaning that each booking requires a minimum of three blocks or 4 hours of presenting time. We ask teachers to collaborate when creating the presentation schedule to ensure a full day of presentations (template provided).

If your school does not have enough Food blocks in a day, see our Hybrid booking option, and make a note in your booking request. This option allows schools to book multiple presentation types in one day, meeting your school's needs.

Each class will prepare either the Crispy Chicken Slider or the Popcorn Chicken recipe the day after the presentation.
Classes will be asked to send pictures of their completed projects to us.
*Please note that the pictures will be used online, so they should focus solely on the completed project. To protect the privacy of students, please do not include faces or names in your pictures or review.
